My music tutor mud8/15/2023 ![]() This vibrancy continued throughout the whole set. When the cape shed, more energy and passion exploded in the crowd than any other artist at the festival. A visual, one can describe only, as the image of a shadowed horse. He entered the stage crouched on the backs of two of his backup dancers, who were covered in a long black cape. My favourite sets of the festival were tied between Genesis Owusu and Duke Dumont. Having done so, Salem designed activities that supported those objectives and supervised there execution with patient, constructive criticism as appropriate.Carefully thought-out festival attire was quickly swamped with mud. This was a first lesson and Salem patiently worked to determine skill level and what goals and objectives the student had. Denise, 3 lessons with Salem Knowledgable and Patient Tutor I am excited to continue on with working with her. She is patient, full of beautiful energy and you can tell she's passionate about what she does. I am so thankful I chose Salem to be my musical guide. Salem was very friendly and professional, and was great at finding my true skill level and giving me exercises to develop areas that I need to work on! Learning a new instrument is a powerful way to build courage while strengthening weak points, and to find the growth that can only come from facing challenges head-on. As Thich Nhat Hanh puts it beautifully: “No mud, no lotus.” The magic is in blending it all up and creating new eclectic sounds! I know that art can have a powerful impact on our experience, and I hope that my music will encourage listeners to explore and heal their own relationships with darkness. My studio focuses on building patience and awareness of self, so that when you are digging into the difficult (but super cool) stuff, you’ll have the inspiration you need to get the most out of it!Īs a songwriter, my unique sound has been referred to as “creepy pop” and “dark cabaret.” I draw inspiration from a wide range of genres, including classical, metal, pop, rock, R&B, bluegrass and folk. I believe that the way we treat ourselves during times of challenge directly impacts how successful we will be in overcoming that challenge. Unfortunately, this last component of self-care seems neglected in many western studios and schools today. In my 20+ years of training and experience, I have studied many approaches to habit-building, practice efficiency, and musical self-care. My holistic approach to teaching encourages students to apply their newfound skills to their real lives, bringing the lessons out of the practice room and into the world. Cultivate a musical practice that will bring peace and joy into your life.
